Florida Water Star Irrigation System

The Florida Water Star Irrigation System is the future of Irrigation. There is a lot more than just irrigation involved with Water Star. The other Factors are Landscape and the Plumbing of your home.

The Irrigation Water star starts with plants and turf being on separate zones. The plant material must be irrigated with drip. The High flow irrigation must be kept to a minimum. After you follow the above guidelines, you earn points with smart controllers and moisture sensors.

Another part is the landscape. A general rule is to place no plant material within 2 feet of the house. You must use native plant material. Less than 60% of the property can be turf. The trees must shade 30% of the lot in 5 years.

Last is the Plumbing. You need low volume plumbing fixtures, toilets,  and on demand hot water heaters to earn you  points.

It takes all three guidelines to certify a water star home.
