How do you Locate Valves?
It depends on what kind of valve you are looking for. There are several different types of valves. I think you are talking about irrigation control valves. Irrigation control valves control the different zones. There are 3 basic types. The Electronic valve ( most common), Indexing valve and Hydraulic valve.
Lets start with the hydraulic valve. This valve is operated with a controller and water. There are 2 tubes that send water to the valve. To find hydraulic valves that are buried and you do not know where they are you must dig up the tubes and follow them. Unfortunately, there is no easy way>
Next it the Indexing valves. This valve changes zones by turning the water supply on and off. These valves are supposed to be above ground but are sometimes buried. If they are buried, it is easiest to start are the water supply and dig it up until you find your valve.
The last and most common valve is the electronic valves. The electronic valve are operated by a controller. There are wires going to them and can be found with a machine. There are 2 types of machines. The 521 locator and the 2002 pulser. You could just chase the wires by digging them up but the locator is much easier.
