How Much Water Is Too Much?

Sprinkler Guy,
How much water does your lawn need  in Orlando, FL?

That is a wonderful and also a  trick question. You should water according to the different Months.  For example, during the month of February your plants and sod only needed 1.9 inches of water. In March,  we need 3.33 inches of water. Now,  you  subtract out the rain fall. If you have a Rain Sensor or Moisture sensor, the device will skip a watering cycle. If  it rains 6 inches in one day, you may only need to skip one or two watering cycles depending on the heat.

I haven’t watered this week because of last weeks rain. I will probably need to water this weekend though because of  the heat.  Each month will be different. So far this year our water needs have been very low.  But as it heats up,  we will need to add water. March needs  3.33 inches of water and July will need almost 8 inches  of water. Therefore,  save your water until the  summer months.

Just think of yourself.  If you walked a mile today,  you would like a glass of water when you are finished. If you walked a mile in August  you may want to drink a gallon of water because it’s hotter and you are  more thirsty.  Correct?  Treat your lawn and landscape like you. It is a living thing  just like you.
